A pressure washer (or power washer or high pressure cleaner) is used for cleaning hard surfaces (e.g. buildings, patios, concrete). A pressure washer makes use of large volumes of high pressure water to achieve its high cleaning performance.

A pressure washer - also called power washer or high pressure cleaner - is a cleaning device for cleaning hard surfaces, using large volumes of high pressure water. A pressure washer can be used to remove for example loose paint, mold, dust, mud, or chewing gum from hard surfaces such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces.
The most common types of power washers available for hire can be found below, together with a description of when they are most appropriate to hire:
When hiring a pressure washer, the most important characteristics to take into account are its maximum pressure (expressed in PSI, Bar or MPa) and its flow rate (litres of water per minute).
Always check with your hire company which accessories come with your high pressure cleaner. For example a hose, lance, extension hose, turbo nozzles, and special application brushes (e.g. patio or car) are not always included in the listed price. Additionally, when hiring a petrol/ diesel pressure washer you need to get fuel as well.
The amount of water per minute used by a pressure washer is called its flow rate and differs from model to model. When hiring a pressure washer, its flow rate will often be listed, and for the most common models ranges from 10 to 15 litres per minute.
When you don't have a water source, it is still possible to use a pressure washer, but not the regular one. You should hire a bowser mounted pressure washer, which has a built-in water reservoir allowing to use the pressure washer at locations without water source.
When using a pressure washer it is recommended to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Recommended safety equipment for a pressure washer consists of the following: eye protection, dust mask, foot protection, ear protection and protective gloves.
